The Poiesz family home at 1641 S. Bailey Street in Philadelphia was not only adjacent to Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. The family was deeply involved in the parish: they were close friends with the parish pastor, Father Henry J. Steinhagen, and always active in parish life, from the early years of Emil and Mary’s new family through Mary Louise Poiesz’ activity as a church leader through the parish’s closing in 2003.
